The page on Climate Change and Rain Gardens, was published recently in the Peterborough Examiner.

Here is some feedback about that and - my response.

Loved your Examiner article on rain gardens. However, don't drink the celebrity Kool Aid DiCaprio was serving as he galavants the world in large yachts and jets. He was aghast that they had to venture into the Alberta mountains to find snow...in July! He claimed the centuries old warm chinook winds were a terrifying example of global warming. Finally he was horrified at the electrical waste shown by the northern lights. Environmental responsibility is and should be foremost for all. But using celebrity to hypocritically drag the willing along a road of disillusion is more damaging than the topic he was intending to promote.

MY RESPONSE:

Hi Bob,

Thanks so much for your note.   I do agree with you about not taking Mr. DiCaprio’s comments at face value or as a mark of who he is  - or might be.

My intent was to use his words to reach someone who might not otherwise have thought about climate change, and who just might, because of his “fame”, think about his words, and in doing so- open his or her mind to the issue.

Words are powerful, and hopefully some of those positive words will reach those open minds and nest there.

Then one day, those same words will spark an action.. and one action leads to another.

Always my hope.

Again, thanks

Cauleen
